Ruth Bruehl Nicoll

Ruth Bruehl Nicoll, (nee Laque), born February 27, 1913, died April 25, 2011 at St. Vincent's Hospital, Frankfort, Indiana. She was married for forty-six years to the Reverend Robert A. W. Bruehl, her high school sweetheart, with whom she faithfully served pastorates in the Northern Illinois Conference of the United Methodist Church for thirty-seven years. The churches include Covenant United Methodist in Evanston, IL, Evergreen Park, River Forest, Blue Island, Western Springs, Des Plaines, Glen Ellyn First, and in retirement, Glenview, all in Illinois. Widowed in 1981 she subsequently married another United Methodist clergyman, the Reverend William A. Nicoll. She served with Mr. Nicoll, again at Evergreen Park for the last years of his active ministry until the end of 1984.

In addition to taking part in the ministry she, at different times, served as president of the Ministers Wives Association and was the founder of the Northern Illinois Conference Ministers' Wives Chorus. She was an active member of this organization until its demise after sixteen years of existence. She was a member of the PEO sisterhood serving twice as president of her chapter. In retirement she was part of the PEO Group at the Wesley Manor Retirement Community, again serving as president several times.  
She is survived by her children, Dr. Richard G. Bruehl (Nancy Stott) of Brentwood, TN,
and Robert A. W. Bruehl (Ellen) of Virginia Beach, VA; two step-children, Dale W. Nicoll (Marilyn) of Concord, CA and Jane Nicoll Stover (Carl) of Park Forest, IL, nine grandchildren, seven step-grand children, thirteen great grand-children and four step great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her first husband, Robert A. W. Bruehl, and by her daughter, Marcia Ruth Kauten.

A memorial service will be held in the Wesley Manor Chapel in Frankfort, IN, Fri., May 6, 11:00 AM with calling for one hour prior to the service . Mrs. Nicoll's ashes will be interred in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati, OH, Sat., May 7 at 11:00 AM.
