Ruth Margaret Emens, 90, of rural Frankfort, died at 1:23 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 16, 2011, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community
She was born Nov. 26, 1920, in Clinton County, and was the daughter of Samuel and Blanch Sheets Paris. She graduated from Michigantown High School in 1938.
On Aug. 8, 1943, she married Taylor Walker Emens in Fort Smith, Ark., and he died July 18, 2008. Ruth and her husband wintered in Fort Myers, Fla., for 23 years. They moved to Wesley Manor in October 2006
Mrs. Emens previously worked at Peoples Home Life and then at The Farmers Bank, first as a teller and then as the secretary to the president of the bank, retiring in January 1983
She had been a member of Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church since 1948, where she was active in the Friendly Circle Class and involved with the different women of the church functions. She also was a former member of Zonta. She enjoyed playing cards, bowling and wove blankets. She also enjoyed being with her family and friends.
Surviving are one son, Stanley Emens of Rural Frankfort; one daughter, Jan Emens Racer (husband: Hank) of Orange Park, Fla.; one sister, Marie Giles of Muncie; four grandchildren, Michael Emens (wife: Stefanie) of rural Frankfort, Christa Snyder Manahan (husband: Nathan) of Carmel, Laura Snyder Sharbaugh (husband: Curt) of Clearwater, Fla., and Elizabeth Racer Hooks (husband: Christopher) of Philadelphia, Pa.; and eight great-grandchildren, Ashley and Cole Emens, Audra, Campbell and Maggie Manahan, Micah, Mackenna and Jacelyn Sharbaugh. She also has one other great-grandchild on the way. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Judith Ann Emens Snyder in 1989, one brother, Robert Paris in 1994 and one sister, Lois Beesley in 2011.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 20, 2011, at Genda Funeral Home, Pastor Donna Enersen officiating, burial in Hopewell Cemetery. Calling will occur 5-7 p.m. Wednesday at Genda's. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be designated to Pleasant Hill Presbyterian Church.
