Ruth A. Martin, 98, of Frankfort, formerly of Gas City, passed away Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at IU Health Arnett in Lafayette. She was born March 21, 1925, in Clinton County to Arthur and Ora Marie (Gaylor) Curtis. She married Deane Martin April 11, 1964. He preceded her in death August of 1998.
Ruth was a 1942 graduate of Jackson High School. Over the years she worked at Citizens Savings & Loan, Peter Paul, and Hoosier Metal. She was a member of Frankfort First Christian Church, a life member of and Past President of VFW Ladies’ Auxiliary 6728, Charter member of Moose Lodge #1778 in Gas City, Amvets Post #5, secretary for many years of TSROA Social Club, and Queen Mother of Red Hat Foxy Ladies of Tarpon Shores, Florida where she wintered from 1978-2015. She enjoyed playing cards, board games and bingo.
Ruth is survived by her son, Steve (Linda) Frey; stepchildren, Patricia Martin and Beverly (Dan) Vaughn; grandchildren, Jedediah Frey, Appolinia “Abby” Stephenson, Caleb Frey; Step grandchildren, Bryan and Scott Fickle, Bryan, Julie & Bradley Martin, Stacy, Tricia and Janette Dowman, Christine and Cheryl Wagoner; several step great grandchildren and step great-great grandchildren; and several nieces.
Along with her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents, son, Richard "Rick" Frey; stepchildren, Eugene Martin, Janet Dowman; Robert Martin, brother, Paul Curtis; and a sister, Helen Lipp.
Visitation will be held Saturday, February 17, 2024, from 9:30am until the time of the service at 11:30am at Wesley Manor Amanda Reid Chapel. Pastor Shan Sheridan and Chaplain Deborah Musick Klemme will officiate. Burial will be held Saturday, at 2:30pm at Grant Memorial Park in Marion.
