Sandra Ann Mays, 81, of Clarks Hill, passed away Monday, January 30, 2017, at her home.
She was born August 17, 1935, in Frankfort, to Alfred and Lucille Loveless Stoms. On June 11, 1954, she married Elmer Douglas Mays in Burnettsville; he survives.
In 1953, Sandra graduated from Frankfort Senior High School and later from Hufferâs Beauty Academy in Lafayette. She worked from 1954 until her retirement in 1998 as a beauty instructor at Hufferâs Beauty Academy and as a beauty operator throughout Clinton County. Sandra was a 50-year member of the Order of the Eastern Star #742 and past Girl Scout leader. She enjoyed canning, sewing, crocheting, knitting, and bowling. Sandra and Elmer in their motorhome followed Sprint Car and NASCAR racing, visiting almost all of the tracks.
In addition to her husband, Sandra is survived by her children, Teresa S. Douglass, of Frankfort, Toni G. (Thomas) Osborn, of Clarks Hill, and Troy D. Mays, of Clarks Hill; brother, Larry Stoms, of rural Frankfort; sister-in-law, Phyllis (Dan) Snodgrass, of Mulberry; seven grandchildren, and 13 great-grandchildren.
Sandra is preceded in death by her parents and one infant son.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 2, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel from 4:00 to the start of the Order of the Eastern Star service at 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, February 3, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Berg officiating.
