Sara Jane âJanieâ Clark, 76, a life-long Frankfort resident, went to her home in heaven surrounded by her family on Wednesday, April 19, 2017, at IU Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born September 3, 1940, in Frankfort, to Lucille Evanson Smith and T.R. Smith. On April 25, 1965, she married Max B. Clark in Jensen Beach, Florida; he survives.
Janie graduated from Frankfort High School in 1958. Throughout her life, she worked as a manager of the Spiegel Catalog Store, at Peter Paul, at Federal Mogul, and retired as a supervisor at Frito Lay. Janie was a 50 year member of the Women of the Moose, American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, and Eagles Ladies Auxiliary in addition to St. Matthewâs United Methodist Church. She enjoyed playing bingo, needlework, and crafting.
In addition to her husband, Janie is survived by her children, Lucy Jo Clark, of Frankfort, Mary Jane Clark Jarboe (Jim Jarboe), of Lakeland, Fla., Brandon âMackeyâ (Chelsi) Clark, Cindy Wilson, Barbara (Steve) Denniston, and Debbie (Brad) Knipp, all of Frankfort, and Steve (Kim) Clark, of Dallas, Tex.; brother, Charlie Evanson, of Irving, Tex.; 12 grandchildren including Sara Jarboe and Abby Jarboe; 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, four nieces, and two nephews.
Janie was preceded in death by her parents, brother, Lee Evanson; and granddaughter, Andrea Stinson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2017, from 2:00 â 5:00 p.m. at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort. Funeral service for Janie will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24, 2017, with Pastor Karen Bray officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort.
