Shirley A. Davis, 80, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, February 23, 2015, at Clinton House Health and Rehab Center.
Shirley was born on December 7, 1934, in Manhattan, Kansas, to Austin E. and Lena Champ Oppenlander. On August 24, 1952, she married Raymond Hoyer; he preceded her in death on February 8, 1986. She then married Donald âGeneâ Davis on November 23, 1988; he survives.
In May of 1953, Shirley moved to Frankfort from Kansas. She worked for the Indiana Bureau of Motor Vehicles for 17 years and then worked for eight years as the Frankfort City Clerk Treasurer before retiring. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Women of the Moose, and Hope Methodist Church where she was also a past treasurer. She also volunteered at the Open Door Health Clinic.
In addition to her husband, Shirley is survived by her two sons, Richard (Peggy) Hoyer of Missouri and Patrick Davis of Frankfort; step children, Donna Burn of Whiteland, and Brian Davis of Frankfort; sisters, Kay Devers of Colorado; two grandchildren, two step grandchildren, and three great grandsons.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents, her daughter and son-in-law, Jonna and Philip Lettrell; granddaughter, Beth Lettrell; one great granddaughter, Kimberly; brother, Alan Oppenlander.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 10:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Paul Whitaker and Shirleyâs son, Patrick, will officiate.
