Shirley Jo Huffer, 59, of Monticello, passed away on Thursday, December 3, 2015, at IU Health Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
She was born December 29, 1955, in Frankfort, to Clarence A. and Mary Lou Hampton Eli. She was previously married to the late James Huffer Sr.
Shirley attended Clinton Central Schools. Throughout her life, she worked at Federal Mogul and Exide, and Alcoa for the past 15 years. She was a member of the United Steel Workers Local #115 and past member of the Moose and Eagles Auxiliary. In 2009, she moved to the Tippecanoe River near Monticello where she enjoyed her time fishing and floating with her grandchildren.
Surviving are her children, Matt (Meghan) Huffer of Frankfort, and Tina (Bradley) Surber of Kirklin; sister, Penny Henderson of Michigantown; two brothers, Leroy (Tina) Eli of Hillisburg, and Jay Eli of Monticello; and three grandchildren, Tallon and Kortney Surber and Sarabeth âColieâ Huffer.
Shirley is also preceded in death by her brother, Michael Eli.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 7, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 â 8:00 p.m. Funeral service for Shirley will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, 2015, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Whiteman Cemetery in Michigantown. Memorials in Shirleyâs name may be made to Indianaâs State Wildlife Action Plan or D.A.R.E.
