Sonia Ann Cook Garrison went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, December 4, 2024, at 7:15 a.m., surrounded by her loving daughters in her home in Bluffton, South Carolina. Our mother was born on October 1, 1938, to the late Marion and Wilma Cook of Marion, Indiana. She married Jerry Lee Garrison of Flora, Indiana, on January 29, 1958, whom preceded her in death on December 6, 2014.
Mom graduated from Flora High School in 1956 and attended Indiana University. She lived in Flora, Indiana, Syracuse, Indiana, Park City, Utah, West Lafayette, Indiana, and Bluffton, South Carolina. Mom was a homemaker and worked in the Carroll Consolidated School Corporation with the Title One program. She also worked in Real Estate in Syracuse, Indiana, Park City, Utah, and she worked for Tucker Real Estate in West Lafayette, Indiana. Mom was blessed with many opportunities in her life and enjoyed traveling and having new experiences.
Mom embraced her Christian faith and her great love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, in whom she found great joy, comfort, and peace. She and dad were especially blessed by their work with Carroll County youth, providing guidance and support to the youth in their beginning walk in their faith. Mom cherished her time with family and close friends. She enjoyed hosting family gatherings and celebrations in which she was able to share her gift of making wonderful pie. This was a skill she was very proud of and that she passed on to her daughters and grandchildren. Her greatest passion was her family. She loved spending special time with her sister, her children, including her sons-in -law that she loved as her own, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She took every opportunity to be present at every special celebration and family gathering.
