Stephen C. Hodson, 75, of Rossville, passed away on Saturday, April 29, 2017, at his home.
He was born April 22, 1942, in Frankfort, to the late Laurell P. and Lucile Haines Hodson. His first marriage was to Clydelle Myers, who preceded him in death. Stephen later married Janet Shuck Jobe on July 5, 1969; she survives in Rossville.
In 1960, Stephen graduated from Rossville High School and then attended Purdue University for two years. He had worked with his father at Hodson Plumbing for many years and later worked for the State of Indiana as a surveyor and construction inspector. Following his work with the state, he opened an appliance store and refrigeration service in Rossville. In 1975, he moved to the Iron Mountain area in Michigan and ran an appliance store and refrigeration service as well. After returning to Indiana, Stephen worked for H.H. Gregg before retiring after 17 years of service. In his retirement, he ran an appliance repair business in Rossville for several more years.
Stephen was a member of Faith Church in Lafayette. He enjoyed fishing in Canada, gardening, and restoring classic cars, a hobby passed down. His family sponsors the Laurell Hodson Classic Car Show during the Rossville Summerâs End Festival.
In addition to his wife, Stephen is survived by his children, Joe (Raelene) Hodson, of Rossville, Cindy (Brian) Bergeron, of Iron Mountain, MI, Karen (Joe) Slaght, of Presque Isle, MI, Melinda (Ray) Walsh, of West Lafayette, Kimberly (Terry) Clark, of Harned, KY, and Michelle (Greg) Longenecker, of Rossville; brothers, Kenneth (Jerilynn) Hodson and Phil (Debby) Hodson, both of Rossville; 15 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, and his dog, Maisy.
Stephen is preceded in death by his parents, first wife, and infant son, Stephen Laurell Hodson.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, May 7, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 1:00 â 5:00 p.m. Funeral service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017, at the funeral home with Pastor Dustin Folden officiating.
