Stephen E. Bowlin

Stephen E. Bowlin, 72, of Frankfort, passed away Monday, February 24, 2014, at his home.

He was born January 5, 1942, in Charleston, IL, the son of William L. and Loretta Nolte Bowlin.  On May 31, 1985, he married Linda K. Shilkett; she survives.  

Stephen graduated from Charleston High School in 1960.  He graduated from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.  Stephen served in the United States Marine Corp.  He retired from Norfolk & Southern, the former Nickel Plate Railroad, as an engineer after 23 years of service.    Stephen was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, Moose Lodge #7, and the American Legion Post #12.  He was a former member of the Elks.

In addition to his wife, Stephen is survives by his sons, John M. (Shelley) Bowlin of Delphi, and Tony (Lisa) Bowlin of Corpus Christi, TX; three daughters, Stephanie (Larry) Rodkey of Rossville, Melissa (Aaron) Nacke of Delphi, and Hillary (Scott) Basden of West Lafayette; and 12 grandchildren.

Visitation for Stephen will be held on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort from 2:00 – 5:00 p.m.  Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, March 3, 2014, at Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette with Pastor Ed Morrow officiating.  Burial will follow in Bunnell Cemetery in Frankfort.  Memorials in Stephen’s name may be made to Clinton County Humane Society.  Online condolences may be directed to gendafuneralhome.com.
