Stephen L. âSteveâ Carlson, 67, of Frankfort, passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2017, at his home.
He was born January 21, 1950, in Frankfort, to Norman Carlson and Jeannette Gunyon Carlson Martin; his father preceded him in death. Steve was formerly married to Karen Reagan Fillmore.
Steve attended Frankfort High School and then served in the United States Marine Corp. during the Vietnam War, receiving two purple hearts. He worked at Federal Mogul for 35 years and later as a security guard at Securitas in Frankfort and Indianapolis. Steve was a former member of the UAW and current member of First Baptist Church, Frankfort V.F.W. Post #1110, American Legion Post #12, Marine Corp League, and DAV. He loved his dog, Nikki, and was a lay minister, performing marriage ceremonies for several people in the area.
In addition to his mother, Steve is survived by his son, Brian (Renee) Carlson, of Frankfort; sisters, Janice L. (Buster) Winkler and Carol A. (Lowrie D.) Harrison, both of Frankfort; brother, Norman âLeeâ (Cheri) Carlson, of Frankfort; grandson, Brian K. Carlson; step-grandchildren, Joseph and Tiffany Hooker, and Christopher Malaterre; eight step-great-grandchildren, Joseph, Madison, TyâAnna, Lyrik, Spencer, Brystol, Journee, and Essence.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 30, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from Noon to the start of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Pastor Chuck Williams will officiate. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort, with military honors. Memorials in Steveâs name may be made to the American Heart Association or American Lung Association.
