Sylvia Ann Kercher
Sylvia Ann Kercher, 99, of Lafayette, died at 1:45 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011, at St. Anthony Health Care, Lafayette.
Born July 28, 1912, in Clifton, Ill., she was the daughter of the late Ole and Ida Mogensen Lauridsen.
She received her masterâs degree in counseling from Indiana University. Mrs. Kercher was a school nurse and counselor in South Bend Schools for more than 30 years.
She lived in South Bend for 55 years and at Bickford Cottage in Lafayette six years before moving to St. Anthony Health Care.
Her husband Jack Kercher died in October 1947.
She was a member of Holy Trinity Lutheran Church and was involved in Faith At Work & Hope Rescue Mission in South Bend.
Surviving are a daughter, Terrie Kercher (husband: Harrison Flint) of Lafayette, six grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren.
Five brothers preceded her in death.
Services will be held at a later date. Cremation will take place.
Memorials may be designated to the Lafayette Citizens Band, P.O. Box 523, Lafayette, IN 47902.
