Teddy Joe âTedâ Garrison, 76, a lifelong Flora resident, passed away Friday, October 23, 2015, at St. Elizabeth East Hospital in Lafayette.
He was born February 2, 1939, in Flora, to Don A. and Kathryn J. Landis Garrison. On August 3, 1968, he married Jacqueline Mann; she survives.
Ted graduated from Flora High School in 1957, and then served in the United States Army and National Guard. Along with his father and brother, they owned and operated D.A. Garrison Grain Transport and Co. until 1989. Ted was a man about town whether he was at Steak and Shake with his milk shake or having good old fashioned fun with people for a man who never met a stranger. Young Ted dug his Vettes and boats and was the past proud owner of a polyester leisure suit accented by his âstylish lamb chops.â
In addition to his wife, Ted is survived by two sons, Tony J. (Christy) Garrison of Rossville, and Tanner J. (Aimee N.) Garrison of Dayton; daughter, Traci Garrison of Cutler; and grandchildren, Lexi, Gage, Preston, and Barbie; extended grandchildren, Chloe and Nathan; special nieces and nephews, Stephanie, Kandace, Shelby, Blake, Cristin, Heath, Autumn, Travis, Mike and Alicia; and his faithful friend, his dog, Lilly.
Ted is preceded in death by his parents, granddaughter, Taylor; sister, Karen; and one brother, Jerry.
A gathering of family and friends will be held on Tuesday, October 27, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora, from 3:00 p.m. to the start of the memorial service at 7:00 p.m. Pastor Woody Slade will officiate. Memorials in Tedâs name may be made to Almost Home Humane Society or Riley Hospital. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
