Tex A Matthews

Born Oct. 17, 1921, in Maza, N.D. he was the son of the late Schuyler A. and Hazel (Heaton) Matthews. He graduated from Frankfort High School in 1939.
He grew up in North Dakota and came with his parents to Indiana in 1936. He joined the Army in July 1942, serving in the Transportatin Corps as a PFC in Europe, Africa, and in the Mediterranean area. He was honorably discharged in Sept. 1945. He farmed near Cutler and loved all phases of agriculture including raising dairy and beef cattle. He was a member of the Cutler Presbyterian Church and a former elder, deacon and Sunday School Teacher.
Survivors include a sister, Mary Moore (husband: Dick) of Otterbein and a brother, David Matthews of Lafayette.
Also surviving are seven nieces and nephews, Rick Moore (wife: Shelley) of Otterbein, Douglas Moore (wife: Donna) of West Lafayette, Brian Moore (wife: Ellen) of Chicago, Ill., Ken Moore (wife: Allison) of Carmel, Mary Jay (husband: Richard) of Schererville, Julia Kuhn (husband: Brent) of Granger and Jay Moberly (wife: Jenny) of Nashville, and 14 great-nieces and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by a sister, Jane, and her husband, Dale Moberly.

Services are at noon Tuesday at Bodine Funeral Home in Rossville. Visitation is at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Pastor Ann Bingaman officiating. Burial at Whiteman Cemetery.
