Thelma I. Payne, 87, of Frankfort, passed away Friday, June 12, 2015, at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
She was born December 5, 1927, in Clinton County, to William A. and Olive M. Judd Powell; her parents preceded her in death. On July 1, 1946, she married James H. Payne; he passed away on May 27, 1999.
Thelma was a graduate of Frankfort Senior High School in 1945. She worked for 23 years at P.R. Mallory before retiring. Thelma was a member of Kirklin Christian Church and American Legion Auxiliary and past member of the Moose Lodge Auxiliary. She enjoyed yard work, flower gardening, and crocheting.
Surviving are two sons, Michael J. (Aldene) Payne of Lafayette, and Gregory A. Payne (companion, Lori) of Las Vegas, NV; three grandchildren, Amber Payne, Jessica Payne, and Jordan Payne; and two sisters, Wilma (Robert) Williams of Brownsburg, and Julia Lane of Lafayette.
In addition to her husband and parents, Thelma is preceded in death by one sister, Florence Crews.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Pastor Michael Duff will officiate.
