Thelma Lucille (Wainscott) Gray, 99, went to be with her Lord on December 29, 2021. She was born on March 19, 1922, to Roy and Adah (Dukes) Wainscott. She married Leon Gray on October 8, 1944; he preceded her in death on January 5, 2013.
Thelma graduated from Rossville High School. She then worked as a bookkeeper at Kentland Dairy in Mulberry, and was a homemaker and mother of two children, Christine (Gray) Puckett and Gary W. Gray. She was a member of the Rossville Presbyterian Church and the American Legion Auxiliary #342. Thelma loved her family deeply. She also enjoyed playing Double-Bid Euchre with the ladies at church.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 68 years, Leon; her parents; four sisters, Ollie Burns, Mary Thompson, Frances Peters, and Anna Hiatt; and one brother, Gerald Wainscott. Daughter, Christine Puckett, whom she loved dearly, also preceded her in death; as well as a daughter-in-law, Victoria (Mammen) Gray.
Surviving Thelma is her son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Vickie Paris-Gray; son-in-law, Robert Puckett; five granddaughters, Carol Puckett Dishon (Gunnar), Nicole Gray Weaver (Matthew), Kelley Gray, Caren Puckett Crum, and Christy Gray Mendoza (Sal); as well as 12 great-grandsons and three great-granddaughters.
Private family services were held. There will be a Celebration of Life held March 19, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Rossville Presbyterian Church. The family will receive friends and family from 1:00 pm until 2:00 pm, also at the church. Memorial contributions in Thelma’s honor may be made to Oakland Christian Church Building Fund or Rossville Presbyterian Church.
