Theresa Kay Guyer, 80, of Fort Wayne, formerly of Flora, passed away peacefully on Friday September 6, 2024, with her loving family by her side. She was born on October 15, 1943, in Logansport, Indiana, to the late Michael and Stella (Skibicki) Stanczak.
After graduating from Carroll High School in 1962, Theresa went to beauty school and also became a housewife and a mother. She spent many years working at DE Cripe & Company where her children would often work so she could take a lunch break or help her make furniture deliveries. She also spent many years working in Lafayette at the Journal & Courier and at the United States Post Office, until her retirement.
Theresa was a wonderful mother and grandmother. She will be remembered most for being such a fun-loving and caring person who had a laugh that you could not forget. She enjoyed traveling, going to the beach, sitting in the sun, listening to the birds, singing to her favorite tunes, and decorating her home for the holidays. But her greatest joy was spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, where she spent many hours playing the games Trouble and Old Maid with them. She will be deeply missed and forever loved.
Theresa is survived by her children, John (Lucy) Guyer, Kris (Gregg) Malott, Jennifer (Randy) Winans, Brian (Angie) Guyer; a sister, Dolores Conroy; grandchildren, Shae Winans, Lexi Malott, Kiersten Guyer, Sophie Guyer, Brooke Guyer, Colton Guyer, and Cruze Guyer.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Michael Stanczak, and sister, Betty Robertson.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, September 11, 2024, from 11am to 1pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Reinke Chapel in Flora. A private family graveside service will be held later at Maple Lawn Cemetery. Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
