Thomas "Tom" Edward Smith

Thomas “Tom” Edward Smith, 56, of Thorntown, formerly of Frankfort, passed away, December 4, 2018.  He was born September 2, 1962 in Frankfort to J.P. and Jarmila (Danner) Smith.  He was a 1981 graduate of Clinton Prairie High School and received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Anderson College where he also played catcher on the school baseball team.  On July 7, 1984 he married Susan (Dillman) Smith, she survives.

Tom served as a member of  the Frankfort Police Department for 31 years.  He also served as Marshall in Michigantown and as School Liaison Officer at Frankfort Senior High School.  He most recently served as the School Resource Officer for Central Elementary School in Lebanon.  He attended Mechanicsburg Christian Church and was a member of F.O.P.  He was an avid baseball fan.  Tom enjoyed watching games, coaching little league and the Frankfort Senior High School baseball team.  But most of all, he loved his family and enjoyed spending time them, especially his granddaughters. 

Along with his wife, Tom is survived by his sons, Jeff (Brittney) of Noblesville, Charles J. “C.J.” (Ichraf) of Dallas, TX, Kenton (Katelyn) of Frankfort; his father, J.P.; sister, Brenda (Tom) Stock of Waynesville, OH; and his granddaughters, Evelyn and Maeve Smith.

He was preceded in death by his mother.

There will be private family services held at a later date.  Arrangements are with Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort.
