Tina Marie Angelina (Perez) Byers

Tina Marie Angelina Byers, 55, of Kirklin, passed away suddenly and Peacefully at her home Tuesday, February 4, 2024. She was born October 25, 1969, in Chicago to Ralph Oleksy and Sharon Perez. She met her future husband, Derek Byers, on a first date in 2004. They married in 2010 and have been happily together ever since. He survives. 

Tina was a graduate of Currie High School. She also received her bachelor’s degree from Governor State University and her master’s degree from University of Phoenix. She worked as a hair stylist before finishing her degrees and becoming a teacher at Matchbook Learning where she loved her students dearly. Tina was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon where she served as a Eucharistic Minister and volunteered with the Michiana Humane Society. She enjoyed gardening, yoga, cycling where she participated in AIDS rides from Minnesota to Chicago and Ontario to Maine to help with finding a cure. Tina was a huge Barbie and Wizard of Oz enthusiast. She was also an avid reader. 

Tina was a vivacious person who said what she meant, and truly meant what she said. She was unbiased and the truest form a someone that loved all. She could make friends easily but was loyal to her core group. She loved above all else, her dogs and her family, especially her husband.

Along with her husband of 14 years, Tina is survived by her mother; her brother, Pasquale Perez; God Daughter, Elizabeth; several aunts, uncles, and cousins; her fur babies, Spanner Maltese, and Zephyr Morgan; along with many dear friends.

She was preceded in death by her father and an uncle, Michael Lipowski.

Visitation will be held, 3-8pm, Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Saint Joseph Catholic Church in Lebanon and Wednesday, February 12, from 9am until the time of the Mass at 10am at St. Joseph Catholic Church.
