Tony L. Criswell, 47, of Lafayette, died on Wednesday, January 2, 2013, at 2:06 p.m. at St. Elizabeth Central in Lafayette.
He was born June 25, 1965, in Frankfort, the son of Leonard and Barbara (Pillion) Criswell; his parents survive in Frankfort.
On June 27, 1999, he married the former Cathy Sanders; she survives in Lafayette.
Tony was a 1983 graduate of Frankfort High School; he attended Purdue University and later graduated from Ball State in 1991. Tony worked at Ivy Tech as the Assistant Director of Disability Services serving primarily students with disabilities following his employment at Abilities Services in Frankfort. Tony had served as an ADA Consultant for Clinton County and on the Indiana Human Right Committee of Tippecanoe County. Tony shared love with his students, parents, brothers, and sister and their families while living a faithful covenant made with his wife. Oliver, Tonyâs dog, was a loyal companion.
In addition to his wife and parents, Tony is survived by his sister, Geretta Greene of Warsaw; and two brothers, Rob Criswell of Warsaw and Tim Criswell of Frankfort.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, January 11, 2013, in Ivy Tech Auditorium in Lafayette at 11:00 a.m. A private inurnment will take place at a later date.
Tonyâs passion was to assist people with disabilities achieve their educational goals. He was a valued member of the Ivy Tech team who made it possible for many students with disabilities to earn degrees and have fulfilling jobs. As Tony requested before his passing, his family has established a fund at Ivy Tech Foundation to benefit Ivy Tech students with disabilities.
