Twanette Ayres, 97, formerly of Frankfort, passed away on Thursday, January 5, 2017, at her home in Craig, Colorado.
She was born July 10, 1919, in Frankfort, to Fred S. and Olive G. Cantwell Thomas. On November 19, 1941, she married James Perry Ayres; he preceded her in death in 1992.
Twanette graduated from Jackson Township High School in 1937, and later beauty school; she lived on a farm in Frankfort for over 90 years. She worked as a beautician until 1943, then at Midget Nurseries Lawn and Garden, and later at Purdue University in the State Seed Lab for 11 years. Twanette was a member of Delta Sigma Kappa Gamma Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star, and the PTA. In 2009, she moved to Craig, Colorado to live at Sunset Meadows.
Surviving Twanette are her children, Kathryn Louise (Dr. Jerry) Rowe, of Cheyenne, WY, and James Thomas (Glenda) Ayres, of Craig, CO; four grandchildren, Sarah (Jason) Baker, Bob (Shannon) Mack, Angela (John) Peck and Brad Sink; seven great-grandchildren, Bailey Mack, Andrew Baker, Landon Baker, Jack Peck, Mitch Peck, Declan Sink, and Bryce Sink; and step-great-granddaughter, Micayla (Jonny) Miller. Twanette is also survived by her loving caregivers, Jamie Copeland, Glory Ramos, and Maryliz Teeter. She will be dearly missed by all, especially by her little dog, Henry, who gave her much love and devotion.
In addition to her husband, Twanette is preceded in death by two brothers, John Thomas and Donald Thomas; and one sister, Yvonne Wyatt.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 18, 2016 at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 to 6:00p.m. Funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at the funeral home with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. In lieu of flowers, donations in Twanetteâs name may be made to Sunset Meadows (633 Ledford Street, Craig, CO 81625).
