Van H. James, 95, of Crawfordsville died April 6, 2012 at his daughterâs home.
He was born April 13, 1916 in Kennett, Mo. to the late J.R. and Ella Mae (Davis) James Sr. He married Lillian B. Carr Dec. 24, 1936 and she survives.
James worked in sales at Peteâs Feeds until retiring in 2008. He has been a Crawfordsville resident since 1952 and was a member of the Church of Christ in Crawfordsville. James was also a WWII veteran and served in the Air Force and Army Air Corps.
He is survived by one daughter: Margaret Ann (husband Phillip) Miller; a sister: June Gettings; two brothers: Mitchell (wife Sadie) James and Harold James; three grandchildren, Lori (husband Mark) Ploughe, Tony (wife Angela) Miller and Lana (husband Jason) Pugsley,eight great-grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
James was preceded in death by a son: Hugh Gordon James; three sisters: Lora Johnson, Ruth Lively and Ruby Knuckles; five brothers: Lloyd James, Clyde James, Carl James, Curt James and J.R. James Jr.
Visitation will be 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Wednesday April 11 at Genda Funeral Home. Services will begin at 1:30 p.m. with Robert Hines officiating. Burial will be at Green Lawn Cemetery.
