Velma H. Householder, 82, of Kempton, passed away Tuesday, December 30, 2014, at her home.
She was born November 9, 1932, in Kentucky, to Frank and Dora Surber Cheek. Velma was previously married to Bob Carter. In the summer of 1971, she married Charles âChuckâ Householder; he survives.
Velma worked at Delco-Remy in Kokomo before becoming a CNA for 13 years at Tipton Hospital. She was a member of Foursquare Gospel Church. She loved cooking, canning, and gardening. Velma also enjoyed bowling.
In addition to her husband, Velma is survived by one son, Matthew Brake of Kokomo; granddaughter, Natasha (Matt) Clever; one grandson, Loren Brake; great grandson, Devon Clever; and eight siblings, Ruth Royce, Margee (Jack) Francis, Bobbi Johnson, Frank (Vicki) Cheek, Lois Hamilton, Roy (Trudy) Cheek, Linda Sparling, and Kathleen (Steve) Fearnow.
Velma is preceded in death by her parents and siblings, Robert Dale Cheek, James T. Cheek, Genita Young, and Betty Nead.
Visitation for Velma will be held on Monday, January 5, 2015, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 4:00 to the start of the funeral service at 6:00 p.m. with Pastor Jerry Blackburn officiating. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
