Vera Louise Walker Null, 94, of Dayton, passed away at 3:50 pm on Saturday, February 28, 2015, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
Vera was born on June 6, 1920, in Madison, WI, to Jacob and Louise Gruen Walker. The family moved to Ft. Wayne when she was very young. Vera met Robert W. Null while working at Rea Magnet Wire in Ft. Wayne; they married on April 17, 1940. Bob was a Merchant Marine while Vera worked at an ammo factory during WWII. They then moved to Dayton, in 1958 when REA Wire built a plant in Lafayette.
Vera was a fine mother and enjoyed cooking, baking, reading and knitting. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother and also worked at JC Penney Co. in Custom Draperies for many years.
Vera and Bob raised three children, Dave (Beverly) Null of Blenheim, New Zealand, Carolyn Null (David) Blue (deceased), and Thomas (Susie) Null of Lafayette. In addition to her two sons, Vera is survived eight grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren.
Her first husband, Bob, preceded her in death in 1967. In 1970, she married Charles Hettmansperger who also preceded her in death in 1991. In addition to her husbands and daughter, Vera was preceded in death by her sister, Marie Pifer.
A graveside service will be held on Thursday, March 5, 2015, at 11:00 am at the IOOF Cemetery in New Haven, IN. Arrangements are entrusted to Genda Funeral Home. Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
