Viola Ruth Ruckel

Viola Ruth Ruckel, 86, of Mulberry, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.          

She was born August 24, 1927, in Tippecanoe County, the daughter of Eanus G. and Hazel Shalley Brown.  Viola married Harold W. Ruckel; he preceded her in death.    

Viola was a homemaker.  She enjoyed talking to her family and friends on the phone and keeping her journal.  She was a member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary in Lafayette.  Viola was also an avid Cubs fan.  

She is survived by two sons, Ron (Laura) Ruckel of Whitestown, and Jeffrey (Shelly) Ruckel of Mitchell, SD; six grandchildren, Rose Marie, Nathaniel Edward, Anthony Charles, Christopher Ryan, Joshua Andrew, and Danielle Elizabeth Ruckel; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation for Viola will be held at Genda Funeral Home Mulberry Chapel on Wednesday, March 19, 2014, from 3 pm until the beginning of the funeral services at 5 pm.  Minister Frankie Pilley will be officiating.  Memorials in Viola’s name may be made to Riley Children’s Hospital.  Online condolences may be directed to www.gendafuneralhome.com.
