Virginia L. Wagoner, 93, of Lafayette, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, September 16, 2017, at St. Maryâs Health Center in Lafayette.
Virginia was born November 17, 1923, in Johnstown, PA, to the late William and Alice Shanks Ott, and was raised by her aunt and uncle, the late Fred and Elizabeth Ott. On April 3, 1944, she married Dwight D. Wagoner; he preceded her in death on August 24, 1990.
Virginia worked as a ward clerk at Home Hospital in Lafayette for 15 years. She was a member of Pyrmont Church of the Brethren where she was the church organist for over 50 years. Virginia loved to read and spend time with her family and close friends.
Surviving are two sons, Wayne (Judy) Wagoner and Larry (Luanne) Wagoner, both of Lafayette; two daughters, Janet (Bob) Vincent, of Cohutta, GA, and Joyce (Ron) Dolby, of Lafayette; sister, Minnie Ott Berkley, of Davidsville, PA; sister-in-law, Eva Ott, of Windber, PA; nine grandchildren, Troy Dolby, Kimberly Dolby, Karie Wallace, Helen Craw, Ryan Craw, Shawn Wagoner, Marcus Wagoner, Erick Rowe, and Regina Hull; and 11 great-grandchildren, Raegan Wallace, Christian Wallace, Hannah Wagoner, Jackson Wagoner, Ellie Wagoner, Gabby Wagoner, Lucia Gonzalez, Ethan Hull, Nico Hull, Jacob Hull, and Tala Coffman.
In addition to her husband, parents, and aunt and uncle, Virginia is preceded in death by one sister, Florence Ott; and three brothers, Ray, John, and Elwood Ott.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 20, 2017, at Genda Funeral Home Rossville Chapel from 11:00 a.m. to the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. Chaplain Laura Penney Bade will officiate. Burial will follow in Pyrmont Cemetery. Memorials in Virginiaâs name may be made to the Alzheimerâs Association or St. Maryâs Health Care.
