Vivian Lorene Tompkins, 92, passed away March 10, 2015 at Wesley Manor Retirement Community.
She was born June 17, 1922, in Clinton County, the daughter of Archie Ray and Ethel Stevenson Huffer. On April 21, 1946, she married Marvin L. Tompkins; he preceded her in death on September 12, 1998.
Lorene graduated from Frankfort High School. Throughout her life, she worked at P.R. Mallory, Ellis Jewelry and Thrasherâs. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church where she was active with Ruth Circle, Chancel Choir, and Committee for Special Dinners. Lorene was a Pink Lady at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital and served on the Friends of the Manor Board at Wesley Manor. She was also a member of the Roosevelt and Kennedy Club of the Democratic Party.
Surviving are one daughter, Debra Sue (Michael) Sears of Boyne City, MI and Durham, NC; two grandchildren, Matthew Sears of Durham, NC and Mark Sears of St. Louis, MO; three great grandchildren, Marisol and Greta Sears of NC and Cora Sears of St. Louis; and one sister Terrell (Sidney) Huffer Camhi of Indianapolis.
In addition to her husband, she is preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Irene Charles, Maxine L. Street, and Mary Kathryn Avitabile.
