Wayne G. Treece, 62, of Mulberry, passed away on Thursay, September 21, 2017, at Franciscian Health in Lafayette.
He was born June 7, 1955, in Frankfort, Germany, to Clyde William Barton and Statia Vancel Treece. Wayne was formerly married to Julie Nydigger. In 1999, he married Angela Joanne Cory; she survives.
In 1967, Wayne and his family moved back to Mulberry area. Wayne gradutaed from Clinton Prairie High School in 1973, and then received his certification in diesel mechanics. Throughout his life, he was a diesel mechanic for Christopher Trucking and later Speedway Diesel Motors before owning and operating his own rig over the road.
Wayne was a self-taught musician; there was not one thing he could not play. He was also know for his ability to fix anything, building his first mini bike at 10 years old and first car at 13 years old. Wayne was a captivating story-teller and known for his wit and humor to the end.
In addition to his wife, Wayne is survived by his sons, Brandon Smith, Hunter Cory, Bradley Treece, Ramsey Treece, and Alex Treece; and sisters, Rose (Joe) Lashbrook, Patricia (Donnie) Pitts, and Brenda (Mark) Thomas.
Wayne is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Bruce Treece.
Please join Wayneâs family for a casual celebration of life service at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, September 25, 2017, at the Wildcat Conservation Club in Mulberry. A carry-in meal will follow in there until 7:00 p.m.; feel free to bring a dish that Wayne would enjoy and share more memories with his family and friends. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Wayneâs honor may be made to help the family defray funeral costs.
