William âBillâ H. Powell, 75, of Galveston, passed away Thursday, March 8, 2018 at Franciscan Health East in Lafayette. He was born July 22, 1942 in Logansport to the late Lloyd Wilson and Mary Susan (Adams) Powell. He was a 1960 graduate of Burlington High School and attended Purdue University. He married his wife, Martha (Veach) Powell January 19, 1963. He worked most of his life as a farmer, but also worked at Continental Steel, Logan Machining, Angle Trucking in Logansport and Fairfield in Lafayette. He was a member of Burlington Church of Christ where he was an elder and worked at the Burlington Food Pantry. He enjoyed playing guitar and banjo, spending time with his family, his dog, and horse, and was a selfless man that was known for doing anything for anyone.
Along with his wife of 55 years, Bill is survived by his children, Becky (Mike) Wade of Logansport, Rhonda Hardin of Burnettsville, Roger Powell of Camden, Rodney Powell of Indianapolis; a sister, Lois Wolf of Phoenix, AZ; eleven grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Betty Jo Powell.
Funeral services will be held 1pm, Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Genda Funeral Home Reinke Chapel in Flora. Pastor Dave Osborn will officiate. Burial will follow at Paint Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be held 4-8pm, Monday, March 12 at the funeral home.
