William Edgar Pippenger, 84, of Fayetteville, N. Carolina and formerly of Frankfort, Indiana, passed away Friday, April 25, 2014, at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center in Fayetteville.
He was born June 24, 1929, in Clinton County, Indiana, the son of Harry and Mildred Myers Pippenger. On February 26, 1953, he married Helen E Hailman; she preceded him in death August 8, 2013.
William was a private in the Army during the Korean War. He later worked at Fairfield Manufacturing Company for 18 years and Carrâs Cabinet for 19 years. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Frankfort and Trinity Baptist Church of Fayetteville. William was also a member of the VFW.
William is survived by two sons, Steven (Carol) Pippenger and David Lee (Bessie) Pippenger; one sister, Josalee Copas; one grandson, three step-granddaughters, seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; six great-godchildren; and three great-great-godchildren.
In addition to his wife and parents, William is preceded in death by one sister, Irma Alice Clark.
Visitation for William will be held at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort on Wednesday, April 30, 2014, from 11:00 a.m. until the start of the funeral service at 1:00 p.m. with Pastor Chuck Williams officiating. Burial will follow in Scotland Cemetery in Kirklin. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Williamâs name may be made to First Baptist Church.
