William Earl âCookieâ Cook, 81, a life-long Frankfort resident, passed away on Saturday, December 10, 2016, at Witham Hospital in Lebanon.
He was born July 17, 1935, in Frankfort, to William H. and Evelyn Myers Cook. On January 27, 1973, he married Dawn Ward; she survives.
Cookie graduated from Frankfort Senior High School in 1953, and after his military service, attended IU. During the Korean War, he served in the United States Navy as a corpsman. Cookie worked at Baker Shell Station for several years before working as a roller operator and asphalt layer for Crinshaw Paving; he retired in 1988. He was a member of First Baptist Church in Frankfort, and attended Eastside Christian Church.
He loved his family and was always proud of his children He was a member of the Buick and Oldsmobile Clubs and the former Lafayette Car Club. Cookie took pride in his â41 Buick and â72 Oldsmobile Vista Cruiser in addition to his Coca-Cola collection. He never knew a stranger; Cookie was unselfish, always putting others first, thoughtful of little details, and always willing to help.
In addition to his wife, Cookie is survived by his daughter, Holly (Toby) Shirar, of Sheridan; son, Andy (Bethany) Cook, of Flora, IL; grandchildren, Elijah and Abigail; and niece, Brenda Burton.
Cookie is preceded in death by his parents and one sister, Bonnie Burton.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 14, 2016, at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort, from 3:00 â 7:00 p.m. Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 15, 2016, at the funeral home with Pastor Frank Harness officiating. Entombment will be held at a later date in Green Lawn Mausoleum. Memorials in Cookieâs name may be made to the American Heart Association.
