Wilma Brown of Wesley Manor, 1555 N Main, Frankfort, IN, went home at 7: 17 a.m. on July 25, 2011
She was born July 5, 1931 at Quinter, Kansas, to Joseph and Alice (Phelps) Pratt. She was the sixth of seven children: Winnie (deceased), Orville (deceased), Earl (deceased), Gilbert (deceased), Charles (deceased) and Elaine Casey of Toronto KS, who survives. She graduated from high school in Waverly, KS in1949. On June 24, 1951, she was united in marriage to Rev. Lowell H. Brown, who survives. She moved to Dayton, Ohio with her husband, who attended United Theological Seminary. They served churches in Ohio and Kansas. She was very active in the churches, holding various positions. She sang in church choirs for 40 years. She moved successively with her husband to Topeka KS., Springfield, IL, and Elkhart, IN, where her husband was employed with Church World Service.
While in Springfield, Wilma was employed at the Memorial Medical Center in Springfield, IL as secretary to the medical staff. She was a member of The Trinity United Methodist Church. In Elkhart, IN she was employed at the Elkhart Clinic for twenty years as an insurance clerk. She was a member of Hillcrest United Methodist Church in Elkhart. In October, 1999, she and her husband Lowell took up residence in Wesley Manor Retirement Community in Frankfort, IN. She was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church.
Wilma is the mother of two daughters, Dixie Seaton (Tom) of Sevierville, TN and Carla Peavy (Grady) of Springfield, IL.
She is grandmother of five grandchildren: Joel Seaton (Alana) of Knoxville, TN; Kimberly Walter (Ryan) of Elizabeth, CO; Phillip Seaton (Jessica) of Knoxville, TN, Benjamin Krimmel and Jennifer Krimmel, both, of Chicago, IL and the great grandmother of three, Lily, Violet and Charlie.
Viewing will the held at Wesley Manor from 10:00 to 11:00 AM on Thurs., July 28 and at the Genda Funeral Home from 4:00 to 6:00 PM on Thurs.
Funeral services will be held at St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Frankfort, IN, on Friday, July 29 at 11:00 AM with viewing one hour preceding the service. Burial will be in Green Lawn Cemetery.
Rev. Ron Mann and Rev. Jake Fisher will be officiating.
Wilma loved her family and friends and they will miss her greatly.
