Donna Ruth (Colvin) Graves

Donna Ruth Graves, 86, of Rossville, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2023, at Franciscan Hospital surrounded by her family.  She was born July 21, 1936, in Lima, OH, to Dowl E. and Jessie A. (Carmack) Colvin.  She was the youngest of three.  She married Harold Graves in Logansport on December 9, 1952.  He survives.

Donna graduated from Rossville High School.  She worked as a switchboard operator, waitress, secretary and bookkeeper for the family business, Graves Construction, Graves Rentals and Manzana.  She enjoyed reading, Tri-chem painting for senior skirts and pants, making ceramics as gifts, growing roses, traveling and going gambling at Las Vegas and Indiana, Michigan and Illinois casinos, and catching the big fish while holding the pole for her husband.  But above all, her greatest passion was her family.  She was a homemaker most of the time her children were in school, and was always there waiting when they came home.  Family came first for her.

Along with her husband of 71 years, Donna is survived by her children, Tom (Diane) Graves and Nanci Graves; grandchildren, Mike, Jammie, Christena, Stephanie and Stacy; eight great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild on the way.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings, Ted Colvin, Eileen Dey, and Don Colvin; and a grandchild, Bradley Graves.

Visitation will be held Friday, June 23, 2023, from 1pm until the time of the service at 3pm at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Bodine Chapel in Rossville.  Pastor Bob Raschka will officiate.  Messages of condolence may be left at www.dayandgenda.com.
