Gerald "Jerry" Robert Yost

Gerald “Jerry” Robert Yost, 74, of Kokomo, passed away unexpectedly with his family by his side, Wednesday, July 5, 2023, at St. Vincent Ascension Hospital in Kokomo.  He was born on December 7, 1948, in Lafayette to Robert and Jane (Roberts) Yost.  He married Elizabeth “Betty” Nickolas on January 18, 1974, and she survives.

Jerry was a 1967 graduate of Wainwright High School and went on to graduate from Purdue University with a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering in 1971.  He then served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War.  While in the Navy, Jerry was selected to be an instructor at the Nuclear School under Admiral Rickover, “The father of the nuclear navy.”  He worked for Delco Electronics/Delphi Electronics until his retirement in 2008.  Jerry was a working man that enjoyed playing golf in his younger years, playing cards, and spending time with his family.

Along with his wife of 49 years, Jerry is survived by his children, Brad (Christina) Yost and Karen Yost; sisters, Nancy Summers, Shirley Babb, Mary Ann (Dan) Kerkhoff; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be held Monday, July 10, 2023, from 10am until the time of the service at 11:30am at Day & Genda Funeral Home ~ Mulberry Chapel.  Burial will follow at Fair Haven Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made in Jerry’s honor to the Michael J. Fox Foundation.
